A noise is a clue, not a diagnosis

Start by recording the sound on your phone. Note whether it happens all the time or only after a door closes, during a defrost cycle, or when the compressor starts. Also note whether food is staying cold, whether frost is building up, and whether the noise stops when you open a door or drawer. Those details help separate a normal operating sound from a fan, ice, or cooling problem.

Sounds that can be normal
Humming and a low vibration
The compressor and condenser fan can produce a steady hum. You may hear it more clearly at night, when the kitchen is quiet. A built-in cabinet can also transfer a small vibration to nearby panels or flooring. If the sound is steady, the temperature is correct, and nothing is rubbing, the noise may be normal.
A low hum that suddenly becomes much louder is different. Compare it with the sound you remember from normal operation. A change matters more than the absolute volume.
Sizzling or crackling
Freezers go through defrost cycles. Moisture near a defrost heater can make a brief sizzling or crackling sound. It may be surprising, but a short episode that comes and goes with the cycle is not automatically a failure.
The same sound deserves attention if it is accompanied by a burning smell, smoke, repeated breaker trips, or a loss of cooling. Turn the appliance off safely and arrange help if any of those signs appear.

Do not reach behind a panel while the refrigerator is powered. You can look for food containers or visible ice in the storage area, but internal fan access is a service task.
A loud buzz that changes when a door opens
If the sound stops when a door or drawer opens, the evaporator fan may be involved. Door switches change the fan state on many refrigerators, so this observation is useful. Noise with warm food or frost
Noise matters more when cooling performance changes at the same time. 3. Look for visible ice or water

4. Check the doors and drawers

5. Note the timing
Write down whether the noise appears after a door closes, during a long quiet period, after a power interruption, or when the unit is full. A short recording plus this timeline is more useful than the label “very loud.”
What not to do
Do not remove electrical covers, probe a fan, puncture ice, add refrigerant, or disconnect a sealed-system component. A premium built-in refrigerator has tight clearances and expensive parts. A quick experiment can turn a diagnosis into a larger repair.
